A Tale of Adventure

A bespoke immersive performance by Studio Karakashyan celebrating the storied history of Cutty Sark whisky weaving together history and glamor.

The heart of Sofia became a portal to the roaring 1920s with A Tale of Adventure, an immersive performance by Studio Karakashyan celebrating the storied history of Cutty Sark whisky. The event brought the bold spirit of Cutty Sark to life, recreating the speakeasy spirit of Prohibition with vintage decor, live jazz, and nautical touches that transported guests to an era of high-seas adventure and glamour.

The evening revolved around two iconic figures: Captain Bill McCoy, the legendary smuggler behind Cutty Sark’s unadulterated quality, and The Sea Witch, inspired by the Robert Burns poem Tam o’ Shanter. Directed and choreographed by Kosta Karakashyan, dancers embodied the brand’s adventurous spirit, blending myth and history through mesmerizing performances.

Select guests were whisked away to meet Captain McCoy in a private scene set against a stormy backdrop of sound and light. There, he shared tales of smuggling and entrusted them with a secret souvenir of their mission to carry Cutty Sark’s spirit to new horizons. Meanwhile, a young sailor challenged attendees to arm-wrestling matches, capturing the camaraderie of life at sea, as the haunting dance of the Sea Witch wove through the space, embodying the mystique of Cutty Sark’s maritime roots and charming the Captain.

The immersive experience brought Cutty Sark’s bold values — authenticity, quality, and adventure — to life. The guests, including influencers, media representatives, and business leaders, were fully immersed in the experience, sharing their excitement across social media, and left not just with memories but with a tangible connection to the brand — a bottle of Cutty Sark whisky to carry the story forward.

By creatively weaving history, folklore, and immersive elements, the event successfully reintroduced Cutty Sark’s adventurous spirit to a modern audience.
